Week 2

Lily is two weeks old! This week was fun because Lily had her first set of visitors. For some she was alert and for others she slept the whole time. Lily and I have somewhat of a routine, but the times are never the same from one day to the next. Anyone is welcome to come visit Lily. Just let me know what day you'd like to come.

The cats aren't sure what to think of Miss Lily. They are very curious but they don't get too close to Lily. They miss their mommy and want me to pay more attention to them. For now they'll have to settle for daddy.

"Who are you?"

We took Lily to her 2 week doctor's appointment. She is 8 lbs and 21.75 inches! She's been eating A LOT this week, so it's no wonder that she's growing fast. The doctor is pleased with everything she saw and said Lily is doing great. We go back when Lily is one month and Lily will get her first vaccine. ouch!

1 week old

Lily cooperated and let me do a photo shoot with her yesterday on her 1 week birthday. Enjoy the pics! The first half of the week was challenging, but each day got a little easier. I survived Thursday and Friday on my own when Matt went back to work. Lily and I are figuring each other out and developing a little routine. She is a very good baby. It's fun noticing the little changing in her each day. She's getting more control of her neck, her hands are more open (not in tight fists), her eye lashes and eye brows are growing, and she's staying awake a little bit more each day. Thankfully she doesn't have her days and nights mixed up. Hopefully that doesn't change! :)

Miss Lily

This is what Lily looks like most of the time when she is awake. She likes being held and falling asleep on our chests so she can be warm and hear our heart beats. She struggled off the bat with feeding, but is a very good learner and improves every time. Things have been better since the three of us have been alone to bond without any interruptions, and she is developing a consistent eating/sleeping schedule which helps Amy and I plan our sleep schedules. Lily had her first doctor appointment on Tuesday and is perfectly healthy. Her skin and lips, which dried out from the birthing process are still a little dry which is perfectly normal. When her skin builds up some natural defenses we can start using lotion on her.
This is a picture of her other normal look she gives us. We call her pirate Lily. Because she sleeps most of the time, when she does wake up she will squint and look with one eye to judge the landscape and either nod back off to sleep, or recognize us and finally open both eyes.
This is our first family picture, taken on Saturday.

Welcome to the world!

Yesterday was a very exciting and rush filled day for our new family. Amy's labor and delivery was going steady for about 2 hours, and then she went from 3 cm to 10 cm in about 1.5 hours. Amy did a terrific job fighting through the pain and had a quick delivery period of around 25 minutes. Lily Elaine Cianciarulo was born @ 11:31 a.m. on Friday 1/15/10, weighing in at 7 lbs 14 oz., 21 in. long, and had a good full head of light brown/blond hair. Her eyes came out starting blue, but are now starting to change color. Both Mom and baby are doing well, and we expect to go home right around 12:00 on Sunday. Here is a picture of the hard working mom and our lovely girl right after delivery.

This is the big week!

One way or another, Baby Cincy will be born this week!! I went to the doctor today and I'm 3 cm dilated. He tried stripping the membranes again to see if labor would start up today or tomorrow. In case she doesn't come on her own, we scheduled my induction so she'll be born this Friday. Only a few days left!!!

Christmas Pictures

I know it's a little late, but here are some family pictures from Christmas weekend. My brother took all of these on his new, fancy camera. It's nice to have a "professional photographer" in the family.

My Dad's birthday is the day after Christmas. We got lots of snow that day so we stayed in and watched movies. I'm sure it wasn't his most exciting birthday, but it was nice to all be together.

39 Weeks!

I'm still pregnant and still waking up every morning thinking 'maybe today is the day'. I went to the dr on Monday and I'm still at 2 cm. He stripped my membranes to try and help me along. He said it usually brings on labor within 2 days, but sometimes it doesn't do anything. So far it hasn't done anything, but today is the second day, so I'm still waiting in anticipation.

On Monday I officially started my maternity leave. The days haven't been too long yet. I've been cooking, cleaning, resting, watching movies, and working on a cross-stitch blanket for the baby. I have a feeling that the days will start to drag if I'm still pregnant a week from now. There's a big snow storm coming tonight/tomorrow, so I'm wondering if she'll think that is a good time to arrive. I can just picture Matt and I driving to the hospital in a horrible storm. Luckily the hospital is only 10 minutes away (with no traffic) so a storm would make it a 30 minute drive at most.

We'll keep you posted as soon as we have any news to share!

Experimenting with Christmas gifts

Matt and I were very excited to get a video camera for Christmas. We already figured out how to record movies and today I'm trying to get them on the computer and play with posting them on the blog.

Here's a video I shot today of our crazy cats and the new toy they got for Christmas. They love it! (If you watch the whole clip you get to see "Chips the acrobat" do a BIG flip in the air.) Don't mind Matt jabbering in the background. He was talking about the new Wii Mario Bros game we got for Christmas. We've been playing that and watching football on our lazy holiday weekend. In order to play with the cats and shoot the video I used the new tripod we got for Christmas. I was excited about that gift because it's a flexible tripod that can wrap around anything and it works with our camera and video camera so nobody has to be left out family pictures and movies.

Happy New Year!!

It's a new year and I'm still pregnant. Now we know for sure that Baby Cincy will be born in January 2010. She just needs to pick the day. We are slightly bummed that we didn't get the 2009 tax break, but it's better to keep her 'cooking' until closer to her due date. I'm happy that her birthday will be a little bit further from Christmas and New Years. It's got to be hard to share your birthday with either of those big holidays.

We had a pretty low key NYE last night. I was proud of myself that I stayed awake to see the ball drop at midnight. (Though I went to bed shortly after that.) Today it's too cold to go anywhere so we're having a nice lazy day inside. We don't have many quiet and lazy days left so we're making sure we enjoy it.

I hope everyone has a wonderful 2010!!
