10 Weeks

Not much new to report this week. Lily is 10 weeks old now. I tried to work as much as I could and the weather wasn't too great, so Lily didn't get any fun outings. Friday was my first full day away from Lily because I had to work from my office. It was nice to see my coworkers and feel like my old self, but it was tough being away. But I didn't worry too much because Matt worked from home and took care of Lily. Lily is still a very good baby and getting to be a great sleeper, so Matt didn't have any trouble being on his own with her.

Uncle Matt Visits

This week Uncle Matt (my brother) drove in from Pittsburgh to visit the family. On Thursday, he drove up with Grandma and Papa to spend a couple days with Lily. Uncle Matt brought his new camera and took lots of wonderful pictures. It will take a while for him to edit and process them (yes, it's that fancy) so my point-and-click photos will have to do for now.

We played on the floor a lot so Lily could show off her smiles and new noises. Also, the weather was great so we got to go for a long walk in my neighborhood. On Friday, we went out for brunch. This normally wouldn't be a big deal, but it was Lily's first time in a sitdown restaurant. She did great and slept through the whole outing. I'm thinking we should take advantage of this stage and go out to eat a little more often because it won't last long.
Lily loves listening to music and likes it even better when you sing to her. Good thing she doesn't care if you can't remember all the right words :)

For shelfish reasons I have to show off Lily sleeping with the blanket I made her. I cross-stiched the Pooh characters during my pregnancy. I finished it a just few days before she was born - good thing she was a little overdue.

Catching up

Lily is 9 weeks now. I'm starting to wonder when I have to stop counting weeks and only go by months. I feel like I'm getting close to that time. Anyway... Lily is doing ok. She's had some tummy troubles this week and her digestive output has been one of my top concerns. My brother said it's TMI to blog about poop, so I won't go any further than that. This was my first full week of work and it wasn't too bad. I got 15 hours in (which was pretty good considering we had an outing on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday and company on Thursday and Friday). Lily still takes lots of naps, so I work when she sleeps. Too bad that means I don't get to nap anymore :(

Last Saturday, cousin Kay and Aunt Carolyn visited Lily. Lily slept the majority of the time except when it was time to eat. Luckily she's pretty entertaining when she eats.
Another funny photo in the bumbo

Last Sunday Lily took her first trip to Nana and Grandpa's house. It took Matt and I around a half an hour to pack everything up and load the car. It felt like we took half the house with us! But we didn't overpack because we ended up using everything we brought. (and we didn't forget anything important... yeah!)
Taffy (the cat) was pretty interested in Lily and it looks like Lily felt the same way.
So cute!
Lily is quite a noisy sleeper!! Lily was snoozing in her swing while I was working and I couldn't believe all the sounds she was making. No, that's not the swing squeaking. It's Lily singing/moaning in her sleep. Grandma calls it "Lily's song".

Kiss Me, I'm Irish

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I hope you are wearing green like Lily so you didn't get pinched.

Daddy worked from home today & took over Lily duties so that I could get more work done. In the above photo Daddy is teaching Lily the fun game of "nap time". Daddy does a great job taking care of Lily. Though he does some things a little differently than Mommy. I laid out her outfit and Daddy dressed Lily. Can you spot what's wrong with this picture? (The shirt is on backwards) Now she looks better!
Here's Lily's 2 Month photo! I keep her next to Pooh so I can tell how she's growing. She's DEFINITELY bigger than Pooh now! I don't know how to link to my older posts, but if you look at February's "Big girl" post you can see her 1 Month picture.

2 Months old!

Lily turned 2 months today and had a checkup at the doctor. She's 23.5" long and 12.24 pounds. So she gained an 1.25 inches and 2.25 pounds in month. The doctor said everything looks great. The only kind of health problem we're battling is clogged tear ducts - but that is a very minor thing. Poor Lily had to get 3 shots and an oral medicine. Again, she calmed down pretty quickly after the shots. She's a trooper. She had a minor meltdown this afternoon, but otherwise is doing ok after the ordeal. When we were getting ready for bed she had a big conversation with me. It's SO FUN to hear her cooing. She's constantly learning and developing and it's so awesome to get to see the results!

8 weeks

This week we had lots of big adventures. Grandma was in town last weekend and on Saturday she helped me take Lily on her first shopping trip. It was great weather so we went to the outdoor shopping center by my house and pushed Lily in her stroller. She basically slept the whole time and let us have lunch and visit a few stores. At Hallmark we found this "Lily" sippy cup. I was so excited to find something with her name on it that I snatched it up. Who cares if she won't be using it for another few months.Since Lily has a little bit of Irish in her, Grandma bought Lily a very cute St. Patrick's Day outfit. So of course we had to do a photo shoot :)

On Tuesday, LeAnn (my sorority sister at Purdue) came up from Indy to visit Lily. It was great to catch up with a good friend. Lily showed off her smiles and how she plays on the floor. LeAnn had the magic touch of helping Lily with her gas and poops. She went through 3 sets of clothes because she kept pooping out the back of her diaper! I think it's time to upgrade to diaper size 2.

On Thursday, I needed to go to my office to get my computer so I could start work again. I am working part time from home in the same Engineering role that I had before. I took Lily with me and she did a great job. I was worried how the 45 minute car ride would go, but she slept through most of it. When she did open her eyes, she stayed nice and quiet and just looked around. We were at the office for a little over an hour and Lily slept through most of that too. My coworkers were excited to see her and hold her. After the ride back home, Lily was still a happy baby, so I pushed our adventure a little further and took our first trip to Target. (Very exciting!!) I put her car seat in the cart and pushed her around the store. I couldn't buy too much because the car seat basically filled the cart.
Today, Lily turned 8 weeks old! We go to the doctor on Monday for her 2 month check up. I can't believe she's that old. The second month went even faster than the first month. Since "New Moon" is coming to DVD and the "Eclipse" trailer just came out, I thought I should dress Lily in the Twilight clothes that my friend Jane made. So cute!
While Grandma was in town she helped me hang the "Lily" sign that Nana's coworker made. I love how it looks in the nursery. Lily looks up at in while she's on the changing table. Here she is with her sign. Her hand is blurred because she's waving hello (or squirming, whichever you like to think).
I'm a little afraid to type the last bit of news, because as soon as I announce this, she will probably stop doing it. This week Lily started sleeping 7-8 hours at night!! I can't sleep that whole time (because I have to pump in the middle) but it still feels amazing. If she can keep this up it will make it so much easier to get work done. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

7 weeks

Lily is 7 weeks old. She's been a 'super sleeper' this week with lots of naps throughout the day. Must be going through a growth spurt. I'm not complaining- it was nice having some time to myself while she slept.
The weather was really nice this week: lots of sunshine and temps in the 40s. We took advantage of it and went on a couple walks in the stroller. We didn't go out for long because I didn't want Lily to get too cold. She must have been content because she fell asleep immediately each time.
Here's a pic of Lily in her robe right before bath time. She still doesn't LOVE bath time, but she doesn't hate it either. She gives me the same 'what are you doing' look each time.
Lily has been giving so many smiles!!! I love it!
Lily can use her bumbo now!! Well, she's about 95% independent in it. Her head will still fall every now and then, so I have to watch her while she's in it and she doesn't stay in it for long.
We've been doing lots of tummy time this week and Lily is showing lots of improvement. She pushes her head up pretty high and gives lots of strong kicks.
Matt said that on Monday night she rolled over from stomach to back. I think it was a fluke because she hasn't done it again. Of course Monday was the night I decided to go out with a friend, so missed it. :( Figures!

Play time

I just love the little ears on this hoodie
Lily is starting to smile :) I tried capturing it on camera, but instead got this series of funny faces.

Here's Lily playing on the floor with her teddy bear. She stares at him, makes faces and noises, and bats her arm at him.

Weekend visitors

This weekend some of Lily's Italian family members on both sides of the family came to meet her. On Friday, my cousin Jill was home on spring break so she spent the afternoon with us. On Sunday, Matt's cousins, Aunt and Uncle came over to see Lily. Janet was in town doing some wedding planning. We are all excited for her wedding in July. Lily slept through their ENTIRE visit. I'm not sure if it was a sleepy day or if it was just too much noise for her to take. I was afraid that after sleeping so much during the day, we'd have a rough night. But to my surprise, she went to bed earlier than usual and had a great night's sleep. We should have a house full of visitors more often!

Sunday was the 1 year anniversary of the day my Grandma passed away. We miss her very much. Lily would have been her 17th great-grandchild. That's amazing! I have great memories of telling candyland stories, playing cards, bunco, and ball-on-the-stairs with Grandma and I will be sure to pass down those fun times to Lily.
