Kiawah Island Part 2
Hello followers! I haven't forgotten about you. Life got a little crazy from July-August. We had many fun events out of town and I got pretty busy at work, so blogging fell to the bottom of the list. But now I've got some time and would like to get caught back up.
Here are the rest of our vacation pictures. Vacations aren't quite as relaxing as they used to be now that I'm a Mom. But it was still a fun week and great to spend time with family.
My sorority sister, Stephanie lives in Charleston. One day she and her daughter Olivia joined us on the beach. Olivia is about 7 months older than Lily and just started walking when we saw her. It was fun to get a preview of what Lily will be doing soon.

Janet's Wedding
In mid-July, we went to Janet & Tony's wedding in Iowa City. (Janet is Matt's cousin) The wedding was on Iowa's campus and it was our first time there. The rehearsal dinner was in the football stadium's pressbox and the wedding was in the Union. It was very nice and looked a lot like Purdue.
Friday night, after the rehearsal dinner, we hit the college bars with Matt's cousin John & his girlfriend. I had forgotten how cheap college drinks are! I felt pretty proud that we stayed out until the bars closed at 2 am. I guess I'm not so old after all.

John & the brothers Cianciarulo
Lily stayed back in Illinois and spent the weekend with Grandma. My Mom was thrilled to have a weekend with Lily all to herself! I love the first picture below. Lily is wearing a dress that Grandma had when she was a baby. Plus, she's sitting on her "I love Grandma" quit. :)
6 Months Old
In mid-July Lily had her half birthday. This year is going by so fast! It was the first time that she sat on her own when we took the Pooh picture in the rocking chair. She went in for a check-up and the doctor was pleased with all that she can do and how she's growing. At her 6 month mark Lily can roll from back to tummy and tummy to back. She figured out how to roll across the room to get what she wants. (Uh oh for mommy!) She can sit independently and "talks" and laughs more and more.
Lily started eating solid food (other than rice cereal). Her first food was applesauce and she did not like that at all! She shivered after taking a bite! But continued to eat a few more bites and ate most of what I offered her the next few days. I think sweet potatoes were next and she liked those better. It seems she likes veggies more than fruits, which is different than most babies, but fine by me. The good thing is that even though she gives "icky faces" she still eats everything we offer her.
Now that Lily can sit and play she loves picking out toys from her toy box. She pulls every single toy out and puts it on the ground. I've been working on teaching her how to put things back in the box but she is not interested. ;)

Indiana visit
At the end of July I had events in Indiana two weekends in a row. So instead of doing the drive twice, Lily and I stayed at Grandma & Papa's house for the week in between. Mommy got lots of work done while Grandma & Papa had tons of fun playing with Lily.
The first event was my 10 year High School Reunion. (Am I really that old?!?!) Friday night we had a fun night Harry's. There weren't tons of people, but I was impressed with the turn out. Some people even flew in for the reunion from out of state.
Saturday night we met for dinner at Bruno's. That even wasn't as well attended. But at least we all fit in the group shot. WEST SIDE!!
My friend Beth invited us over so Lily could have her first time in a pool. We had just been to beach earlier that month but Lily only got her toes in the water. In the pool we held her in the water and she got to float around. She kicked her feet and had a good time. Of course since it was a new situation and new people, she was "Serious Lily" - which means she was very quiet and just stared at everything around her.
Uncle Matt was in town that weekend too! Lily was much different from the last time he saw her. While he was packing up and getting ready to head back home we took some pictures outside.
During my week at home Lily and I popped down to Indianapolis to see my friend LeAnn. LeAnn is expecting a baby boy in November and we are so excited for her!!! Lily's going to have a boyfriend :)
The second weekend event was a shower & bachelorette party for my friend Kim. I took pictures on other people's cameras, but I didn't get many good ones on mine. Sorry Kimbo!

7 Months Old
In mid August Lily turned 7 months old! What a difference a month makes. Lily is officially mobile! She quickly transitioned from "scooting in a forward motion" to full-on crawling. Time to get the gates up and do other baby proofing. She's got so much more personality now and is very talkative. No official words yet, but she definitely make "d" sounds around Matt and "m" sounds around me. She doesn't have any teeth yet, but I feel like we could be getting close.
I couldn't decide which 7 month picture to post because I got so many cute expressions.
Lily is still doing well eating her solid foods. She still eats everything we offer her and favors veggies over fruits. I'm still nursing but we had to introduce some formula since we've been away on the weekends a lot. (My frozen milk supply is officially gone.) She hasn't had any problems with the formula and seems to like the first one we tried, so that's been a big relieve. Part of me is ready to give up nursing but there's another part of me that wants to keep it going. I'm still working from home right now, but if that changes and I'm going to be gone more, we may have to go all the way with formula. Knock on wood - Lily has still never been sick and seems to be growing and developing wonderfully! I'm glad I've been able to give her such a good start in life.
