Kyle is 2 months!

Last week, Kyle turned 2 months old!  I took the pictures on time and am just delayed getting them posted.  His check-up went well and the Doctor said he's doing great.  He's about the size of a 4 month old!  Off the charts in both height and weight.  He's 24.25" and 14.5 lbs.  Some of his baby gear has a max weight limit of 15 pounds, so I have to start packing that up. Crazy!  His infant car seat is getting very heavy for me to carry around.  I guess I better start lifting weights to keep up with my growing boy.  I'm happy he's healthy and wouldn't have it any other way.

 Lily decided to join in

Kyle had enough and started crying.  Lily is saying "shhh" and trying to comfort him.  So cute!

Lily patting his chest and saying, "it's ok, Kyle"

Big sister went away and then I got some smiles from Kyle.  Too bad he's a little slouched.
 And one more
 Other news about Kyle...
He's wearing Size 2 diapers.  As long as he eats every 2 hours during the day, he sleeps well at night.  He went about 3 days in a row at 6 hours.  His best is 7.5 hours between feedings.  He can go longer than 2 hours, but if he spaces out his day time feedings then he's up more at night.  Because Mommy needs sleep, I keep a close watch on the clock and stick to his 2 hour schedule.

He's got a long torso, so he needs 6 month onesies and 3 month pants.  I just bought some of those onsesie extenders to try and get his summer clothes to make it another month.  I'm guessing he'll be in 9 month clothes by fall and 12 month in winter.  Crazy!  That's what Lily did and she was a January baby. :)

In July, Kyle took his first trip to Indiana.  (I have lots of pictures to post.)  He met lots of family, including Uncle Matt (my brother).  He did very well on his first road trip and all the other outings we drug him along to.  He's still a very happy and easy going baby.  Now he's a very smiley baby too, which I love!

Cameron and Co.

Rich and Jane and their daughter Cameron came to visit us the other day.  Matt and Rich went to High School together and they don't live too far from us.  Cameron turns 1 year old today (Happy Birthday!).  Now she and Lily can interact better.  It was fun to watch her expression while she played with Lily.  And also neat to see her stare at baby Kyle.  I think she gave her Mom a dirty stare for holding Kyle too long :) ha ha

My sweet angels

Both kids asleep at the same time (YEAH!!!)  This was at 5pm (BOO!)  Lily wouldn't take her nap that day and the tiredness took over while watching tv.  Lily's bedtime was not easy that night.
Lily fights her afternoon nap pretty much every day.  We both know she needs it, but she's too busy to slow down and take it.  The battle can be so frustrating.  But she's such a cutie when she's peacefully asleep.

Some kids love McDonalds, but my daughter loves Culvers.  Especially the cheese curds!!
One day, Matt was eating them and she asked to try a bite.  She's been hooked ever since.  If Matt and I hope to eat any, we have to order the family size.  Otherwise she doesn't leave any for us.

Daddy bought her cheese curds this day because earlier she was stung by a bee!  Poor Lily.  I was right next to her, talking to a neighbor on the sidewalk.  No food or drinks were present and nobody swatted at it.  It just flew by, landed on Lily, and got her.  She immediately started crying and I rushed her back home and tried to make it better.  (Fortunately, we found out she is not allergic.)  Of course Kyle woke up in the middle of all this and he started crying too.  I feel so overwhelmed/helpless/frustrated/guilty when both kids are crying at the same time.  Right now, that's one of the hardest parts of being a new mom of 2.  Anyway... I got Lily taken care of... and a princess band-aid, some cookies, and tv on the couch really made her feel better.

And we can't forget about Mr. Kyle... or should I say, BATMAN!  I found these PJs on sale when I was pregnant.  I was so happy we found out he was a boy so I didn't have to return them. :)  I get excited when I find really cute boy clothes, because they are harder to find than really cute girl clothes.

Kyle is 6 weeks old

Kyle just got this outfit as a gift.  He looked so cute this morning I had to get a picture.  In the process, I got a smile!  He's smiling more now and even starting to coo.  I forgot how cute little baby sounds are.

He's still doing really well.  Eating and sleeping like a champ.  I weighed him earlier in the week and he was 13 pounds.  I tried measuring his length, but was unsuccessful.  I measured him at 22", which was his birth length, so I know that can't be right.  I just packed away all his 3 month clothes because he's too long for them.  I can't believe my 6 week old baby is in 6 month clothes!  I usually like to buy clothes on clearance to get ready for the next year, but I have no clue what size he'll be next summer.  Looks like I'll have to pay full price for this guy. :)

Then & Now: Lily and her play house

Lily and I were playing outside yesterday.  As I was videotaping my little chatter box, I thought back to what she was like last year.  She understood a lot, but only said a few words.  Now, Lily never stops talking!  I love her imaginary phone calls (usually to one of her grandparents) and how she can read books (she has several memorized) and sing songs.  I can't wait to see what she'll be like next summer at 3.5 years old.

This was Lily at 1.5 years old...

Now Lily at 2.5 years old...

Kyle meets Jack

This week, my friends, Kim and Mindy, came to visit us.  I went to High School with both of them and they now live in Chicago.  Kim brought her baby, Jack, who was born in March.  Even though Kyle and Jack are two months apart, they look about the same size!

On the left: Jack, 3 months old
On the right: Kyle,1 month old
It will be fun to watch these guys grow up.  They won't get to see each other all the time, but when they do, hopefully they'll have fun playing together.

I guess I had "Mommy brain" and forgot to take a picture of me and my friends.  Sorry ladies!  At least I got the kids documented.

Happy 4th of July!

Kyle and Lily in their patriotic outfits.  Kyle's shirt says "My First Fourth"

Lily says, "Happy Birthday America!"

We celebrated the day with Matt's family.  It was Kyle's first trip to Nana & Grandpa's house.  And his first time meeting some of the family.  He slept most of the time... except, of course, when it was time for us to eat. :)

It's been over 100 degrees most of the week.  Too hot to play outside.  So Kyle stayed inside with the ladies.  Then men found a shady spot under a tree outside.  Without the slight breeze it would have been unbearable.  Poor Grandpa had to stand by the hot grill.  We all enjoyed his efforts with an inside picnic.
