Photo catch up

After this post, I will be all caught up.  Here are some pictures I've taken over the last few weeks...

We tried to get a nice picture of Nana, Lily, and Kyle for Nana's desk at work.  This was the best we could get.

Our friend Chris (fraternity brother of Matt's and he also lived with us for a while) came over to meet Kyle.  He just got an internship at Matt's company, so we hope to see lots more of him again.

Lily's nap is still a battle.  I usually have her do "quiet time" in her room where she has the choice to sleep or play with her toys.  On this day, sleep won the battle while she was in the middle of playing with her blocks.  The container lid couldn't have been a very comfortable pillow, but I didn't dare move her and risk her waking up.

My friend Danielle (my sorority sister) came to visit for a day.  This is the best picture I could get with Lily.

We got a little bit better with just Kyle

Baby's first football

Smiling in the Bumbo.  His head is still a little wobbly.  I'm guessing because his head is heavier than the average 3 month old!   He's also so tall that his head is much higher than the little back that's supposed to support him.

Surprisingly, Lily still fits in the Bumbo.  She and Kyle have to take turns using it. :)

Silly girl

DA BEARS!  Kyle is the newest super fan.
This was taken on Saturday for the Bear's preseason game.  Kyle went to bed before the game started, so he still hasn't watched a game yet.  I think he's waiting until the REAL games start.  The hat is new, but the clothes are Lily's (size 12 months).  Finally, something that is big on him instead of small!  There's lots of room to grow, so he should be able to wear this the whole season.  Kyle didn't bring the Cubs any luck this year, but we're hoping he can do something good for the Bears.

Kyle's 1st Indiana Trip

Here's a photo recap of our trip to Indiana.  It was nice to get away and spend time with my family.  It's always great to have extra adults to help me with the kids.  Daddy had to work, so he just helped on the weekends to drop us off and pick us up.  Kyle did great on his first road trip.  On the way down, we stopped half way for a feeding and diaper change.  On the way home he went the full 3 hours without stopping!!  He woke up about 15 minutes away from home, so we just used the paci to hold him off until we got home.

On Saturday we met Grandma and Papa at Fair Oaks Farm.  Everybody loves the grilled cheese and ice cream at the dairy.

On Sunday, we took the kids to Purdue's campus.  There are two great fountains we thought Lily would have fun splashing in.  But both were turned off. :(  So instead I took her to the Zeta house to start the brain washing early.  :)  It's a cool concept that she could possibly go to the same school and live in the same house as I did.  We're not going to force her into choosing Purdue, but we will HIGHLY recommend it.

Campus has changed a little since the last time I walked it.  There are lots of new statues like this.... not really sure why.  But it does make a cute picture for Lily.

On Tuesday, we went to my Aunt's house to spend the day with lots of our extended family.  Lily doesn't get to see cousin Ally very often, but when she does, she LOVES playing with her.  I wish Allyson lived closer, because she'd be a great babysitter.  It was a great day with family and also great because Ally entertained Lily the whole time, and Kyle was constantly held by family members.  It was amazing to have uninterrupted conversations and a hot meal!

This trip was Uncle Matt's first time meeting Kyle.  This isn't the best picture, but it's the only one I got.  Uncle Matt is usually the one taking the pictures and hardly ever in them.

It was time for Lily to have another hair cut, so I took her back to Mariana, who was my hairdresser since High School.  This was Lily's first time sitting in the chair all by herself!

Kyle went along for the ride. (He got drug all over the place on this trip.)  Mariana was excited to meet him.

It's a little hard to see, but Mariana put sparkles in Lily's hair.  It's basically a fancy piece of tinsel that she tied in.  It made Lily feel like a very big girl!

On Friday, we all went to Columbian Park Zoo.  There were newborn goats running all over the place.  Uncle Matt got some great pictures.  Especially one of a goat nibbling on Lily's shirt!

After the zoo we had lunch at Dog N Suds...one of Lafayette's finest eateries :)  Lily still loves a good hot dog.  For a while that was all she'd eat.  Fortunately, she's expanded her taste buds a little bit.  Now she'll eat corn dogs, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, pizza, and pasta.  Not very nutritious, but pretty typical kid food.  At least she also eats hummus, black beans, corn, peas, carrots, grapes, apples, strawberries, and blueberries.

Thanks for sleeping through lunch so I could eat.

 Being silly with Papa

On Saturday, Beth and Katy (friends since High School) stopped by for a visit.

The trip was filled with lots of other fun, but not all was documented on film.  We were happy to have a long week with Grandma, Papa, and Uncle Matt.  But we missed Daddy and were anxious to sleep in our own beds back at home.

The reason I haven't been blogging lately...

...we just bought our first minivan!
(Man, do I feel old!)

In mid July, the kids and I spent a week in Indiana with my parents and brother.  (I still have lots of good pictures to post and will hopefully catch up soon.)  It was our first road trip with Kyle and I filled our SUV to the tip top.  I literally couldn't see out the back window.  Our vehicle that once felt so big (we bought it the year before Lily was born) now felt so tiny.  So we tossed around the idea of getting a van, but weren't totally sure.  We weren't out of space; it was just getting tight.

But then we started researching, and test driving, and found out the great deals that are being offered right now and made the switch.  I was hard for me to get over the stigma of what it means to own a minivan.  But ultimately, the power sliding doors, extra seats, and extra storage space got me pretty excited.

My life has flipped quite a bit in the last 3 months.  I turned 30, had a second kid, quit my paying job, and bought a minivan (yes, I consider that a milestone).  I now officially feel like an "old Mom".  But that's a title I'm happy to have.  Even though my days are crazy and I have no personal time any more, I feel blessed to be able to stay at home with my kids and watch them grow and learn every day.  And now we'll have a more comfortable ride to do it in. :)

Sweet Sibling Play

Rolling Already!?!?

Sorry for the bad camera work.  Lily was on my lap and I had to scramble to get the camera.

At 2 months, Kyle can roll from tummy to back!  At first we thought it was a fluke, but after watching him do it a few times, we realized he's really rolling.  Today, he rolled every time we did tummy time.  (That's one way to avoid tummy time!)  I finally caught this milestone on camera.

I have it written down somewhere, but off the top of my head, I can't remember when Lily started rolling.  I do remember that tummy to back was a lot harder for her to master.  Hopefully Kyle doesn't learn back to tummy too quickly.  I like having 1 immobile child. :)
