March Pictures

Pretty Lily in her purple coat.  She's getting to be such a big girl :)

When the weather is bad, I love to go to take Lily to the mall.  I push Lily in the stroller and do a few laps with the "mall-walkers".  Then Lily gets to play in the little kid area they have.  She's finally stable enough so I can just sit on the side and watch, instead of follow her around and help.  It's nice!

We tried visiting the Easter Bunny, but Lily was too scared to sit on his lap.  I think this was as close as she got to him.  She was brave enough to give a high five!
Once away from the bunny, she was fine with me taking her picture with the big eggs and bunny statue.

Dying Easter Eggs for the first time with BF Madison

On her first Easter Egg hunt and having a ball

Counting to make sure she got them all

I guess the egg hunt wore her out.  Had to take a nap with Daddy on the floor.
He makes a good pillow :)

Lily and Mommy (and Pumpkin in my belly).  She's wearing the dress I made a few weeks ago!  Thank goodness it fits and she'll get at least one wearing.

Celebrated at Nana and Grandpa's house

Grandma and Papa were there too

After dinner, the weather was nice so she got to play in the yard with Daddy.  What kid doesn't love bubbles??

Jen's Baby Shower

In March, Lily and I went to Indiana for another long weekend at Grandma and Papa's house.  The main reason for the trip was so I could attend my friend's baby shower.  Jen is a sorority sister who lives in Georgia so I usually don't get to see her.  But she has family in Indiana and she and her husband made the trip up for the shower.  LeAnn (another sorority sister) lives in Indy, so it was great to see her too.

Same picture, but showing the bellies.  Jen's due date is about 1 week before mine.  My black dress helps disguise how big my belly is compared to hers :)

The week after the shower was my Mom's Spring Break.  So Lily and I stayed a few extra days and had some nice Grandma-time.  Poor Papa had to work. :(  While there, I got a fantastic sewing lesson!  I've had my Mom's old sewing machine and bought a dress pattern (for Lily) and fabric over a year ago, but could never find the time to work on it.  I figured it's now or never because I'll have even less time once Pumpkin arrives.  Plus, with my "nesting", I have a great urge to tie-up loose ends and finish the projects I have looming out there.

The lesson was a success and I made a sundress for Lily and another for my niece.  Grandma took it a step further and made matching bloomers and a hat for Lily.  I am definitely getting a good picture of Lily in all this to document my hard work.  Plus, it may be the only handmade outfit she gets for a while. :)

Visit to Grandma and Papa's house

In February, Lily and I spent a long weekend at Grandma and Papa's house in Indiana.  Sorry I never got the pictures posted.

Washing dishes is fun when Grandma makes lots of bubbles in the sink.  Check out Lily's "Grandma's helper" apron.  We have one for our house that says "Mommy's baker".

This was our first visit without the pack-n-play.  I assumed that if Lily could climb out of her crib, she would climb out of that too.  So Grandma and Papa surprised Lily with this very fancy princess bed.  Lily loves it!  Apparently the cats do too because they sleep on it when Lily's gone.  Aren't they princesses too?!?!

Our visit coincided with a half day for my friend LeAnn, who lives in Indianapolis.  LeAnn and her son, William, came up to play with us one afternoon.  William is about 15 months and Lily liked playing with him.
I couldn't believe we got them to sit still for pictures!  It was their idea to share kisses.  These will be great for the wedding video if they ever get married some day :)

Mommies and babies

Just the Mommies

The reason for our visit was to attend a baby shower for Kim, a friend from High School.  Almost all my old high school girlfriends were able to attend.  Beth and Mindy came over the night before the shower to visit Lily.  Lily loved being with the "big girls".

It's been a busy month since all these pictures were taken.  At the beginning of March, Lily started potty training.  I am amazed at how well it's going, especially since it started off kind of rocky.  It will be great to have a few months off from buying diapers before we start all over with Baby Pumpkin.

Random

This picture was taken on a random morning when Lily decided to wear my shoes. They look good with her Christmas PJs, right?

Sorry to bombard you with all the recent posts.  I finally had a week with little work to do and wanted to get the blog caught up.  Fortunately, I was able to catch up on a few other things around the house.  I even cooked 3 meals!!  This is HUGE, because it's been months since I've cooked anything (besides stuff for Lily).  The laundry is caught up (including washing sheets and mattress pads) and I even ironed some of my husband's shirts.  As you can imagine, he's been thrilled to have a happy-home-maker-wife this week.  I told him not to get used to it! :)  I'm just doing a little "nesting" and enjoying feeling good in my 2nd trimester.  I'm sure I'll get overwhelmed with work or something else again soon.  Or when the 3rd trimester comes around I'll be too big or won't have the energy to do all this stuff.

Playing in the snow

It's been a mild winter so far and not too many occasions to play in the snow.  But we've made the most of the opportunities we've had.  She likes playing in her snow-covered outside playhouse and rides in the sled in the yard a little bit.  I always think of the kid in "The Christmas Story" when I bundle Lily up.  I think she looks like a cute Eskimo in all of her snow gear.

One day we only got bundled up enough to get the mail.  While we were out, we saw the plows doing our neighbors' driveways.  Lily was fascinated.
This day, Lily really wanted to wear her rain boots instead of her snow boots.  Since we were just getting the mail, I went with it.  I quickly realized that all she wanted to do was bury her feet in the snow.  Of course she got snow in her boots and all over, but at least it was an easy mess to clean up.  I'll clean snow over mud or sand any day!

Lily's 2nd Birthday

These are the portraits we took for Lily's 2nd Birthday

Her Birthday was a Sunday, so it was nice to celebrate on the day with a few family and friends at our house.  Here's the Birthday girl posing with one of her favorite presents, a Dumbo stuffed animal. (she loves that movie!)

Grandpa, Nana, and Lily

Papa, Lily, and Grandma

Lily doing a puzzel with her BF Madison (and Madison's Dad).  Lily is great at puzzels.  For Christmas, she got a 12 piece one that's for ages 3 and up.  She mastered it pretty quickly.  So for her Birthday we got her another 12 piece puzzel and for a challenge, a 24 piece (for ages 4 and up).  She mastered the 12 piece puzzel in a week and does pretty well at the 24 piece.  I guess we'll have to keep getting bigger puzzels to keep her challenged.

Another favorite present: a Baby Snow White doll.  She's never seen the movie, yet loves the doll and calls her by name.  In this picture I think Lily was trying to rip her out of the box.  I guess a 2-yr-old doesn't have the patience to wait for scissors.

Between Christmas and her Birthday, Lily is a present-opening-pro.

New shades for the summer

A very serious present-opener

Look at that mess!

It was an Elmo-themed party because of the cake I made.  PS: "Elmo red" is a hard color frosting to create and it makes your teeth and tongue red too!

Happy Birthday To You!

Playing with her new pizza set.  It's not Chicago-style deep dish, but still a fitting present for our pizza-loving family.

Eating ice cream on Grandma's lap.  I don't even think she cared about the cake.  She was all about the ice cream!

There was lots of Elmo frosting left over, so the next day Lily helped me use it to decorate sugar cookies.  As you can see, she was very happy to help.  (this girl loves sprinkles!)
