Walking Lily!!

Lily has been walking with support for many months now. Last week she finally decided to let go and try it on her own. Now she won't stop moving!! She's getting very good and is working her way up to sprinting. (yikes!)

Lily and I both had colds last week so that's why the kleenex was out. It entertained her for a little while. It was a nasty cold but now we are both feeling much better.

Why fold laundry when you can just hide it in your wagon?

Videos from today

Warning: You may need to cover your ears for this one

This one is a little long but you get to see her new climbing skills.

Finally some teeth!

Lily finally has teeth!! Her front bottom left tooth cut first and the right was just a few days behind. They still aren't up all the way, so it's hard to see, but it's a BIG change from looking at no teeth for the last year.

Blizzard!!!

As usual, I'm a few weeks behind on blog posts. I should have had lots of posts since the weather has kept us trapped inside the majority of the last few weeks, but oh well. For those not in the Midwest, the blizzard hit on 1/31 - 2/1. We got somewhere around 18 inches of snow! It was the 3rd worst storm in Chicago history!!

Matt left work early the day the snow started and worked from home the next day so we were all together. Fortunately we never lost power and the blizzard was pretty uneventful for us. We just stayed cozy inside while everything passed. (Too bad the same can't be said for the people who got trapped on Lake Shore Drive....yikes!)This was one occasion where I was happy to be living in a town house and paying for snow removal. Our streets were cleared early but they didn't come to shovel our driveway until around 5 pm. During Lily's afternoon nap I half-considered shoveling our walk (so I could go out and take pictures) but I stopped when I couldn't open my front door!!!

View from our front door (before they shoveled)

View from our bedroom window (before they shoveled). The driveway looks clear because the wind blew all the snow up against our garage. I was afraid to open the garage door before they shoveled because I was afraid I might not get it back down.
Snow blowers are for sissies... we got a bulldozer to remove our snow!! (Note that the snow pile is taller than the bulldozer.)
They moved all the snow in our driveway across the street. I'm guessing I won't see grass here until March.
View down the street after they shoveled (and I was freed from inside)

Looking at our front door before it got shoveled. Obviously the bulldozer couldn't fit, so some poor guy had to shovel by hand.

This was our front walk BEFORE the blizzard
and this is AFTER
The weather has been very cold since the blizzard.... too cold to take Lily anywhere :( The last few days/nights have been the coldest of the year. Needless to say, none of the snow has even started melting and I am getting a little stir crazy. I hope spring comes soon!!!

Videos

Here are a few recent videos of Lily.

I love in the beginning she's jabbering and playing by herself in her tent. If you get bored, the best part is the last 30 seconds when she's laughing.

Sorry you have to turn your neck for this one. I was trying to take a picture but my camera was in video mode and I just went with it. She is such a talker! On her first birthday we decided her first word was "hi" (and she waved when she said it... she waves at everything and everyone!). I think she can also say "dada", but she says it to me as well as Matt. On another milestone tangent, Lily took her first step yesterday!! Hopefully I'll get that on video soon.

Lily has been really funny at meal time. Today she tried to sneak a whole chunk of banana! The poor girl has 0 teeth. :( I've been thinking "any day now" for the last 6 months. She probably going to get them all at once! That doesn't sound like fun for either of us.
