Kyle 10 Month Videos

A conversation with Kyle after our update photo

This is about as much as he moves right now

I know you aren't supposed to compare kids, but I just watched a video of Lily at 10 months.  Wow, she was moving from sitting to crawling and back to sitting.  She was pulling herself up and cruising.  Wow, he's got a lot to learn.  But no worries... I'm sure he'll be zooming too fast very soon and I'll be wishing he'd slow down.

Getting ready for Easter

No Easter Bunny pictures this year.  We were sick for so long, we never got out to the mall.  Now that we're healthy, we don't want to risk getting sick again.  I hear the bunny's lap and Santa's lap aren't usually the cleanest places.

So instead we did Easter activities at home.  Lily's friend Livie came over to dye eggs.

Lily's friend Madison was sick for round 1, so we held round 2 the following week.  They are so focused!

There's no way Lily will eat a hard boiled egg, so we made something she would eat: egg cake pops.  If there are sprinkles involved, you can bet Lily will be there!

We were too sick and it was too cold to do any of the big egg hunts.  She's looking forward to the little one we'll have here on Easter day.

Kyle is 10 Months

Happy 10 Months, Kyle!
- Weighs around 22 pounds.  Not sure on his height.  We don't get a doctor's measurement until 12 months.
- Size 12 Month winter clothes are getting small.  The season needs to change so we can move into 18 months
- Size 4 diapers
- No officially crawling and only rolls sporadically   He is moving more, but he's still sliding on his tummy.  He can pivot in a circle and move backwards, but not forwards.  He gets on his hands and knees often and rocks a lot, but then just collapses.  Lazy boy!  Big sister usually brings him everything he needs.  Or he gives up and finds something else to play with.  Socks are one of his favorites!
- No teeth yet, but I feel like we might get one by 11 months.  But I'm not an expert.  Lily got her first tooth at 13 months.
- Still nursing.  He's tried formula and doesn't mind it.  He does well drinking water from a sip cup at every meal.
- Still eats a lot!!  Some purees, but mostly finger food.  I've tried giving him some of what I'm eating, but sometimes he eats almost my whole meal!!  That happened last night with ravioli and meat balls.  (good Italian boy likes his pasta).  I think he ate more than Lily!  This morning it happened again with scrambled eggs and pancakes (another favorite).
- This week was the first time he refused food: a hard boiled egg.  I guess I'll have to find a different way to use up Lily's colored eggs.
- He is a typical baby and thinks it's hilarious when he drops things from the high chair.  It doesn't help that Lily thinks it's funny too.  Anyone want to loan me their dog for a few months?  I'm getting really tired of cleaning my floor after meal time.
- Still babbles a lot.  Says Ma Ma Ma when around me, Da Da Da when around Matt, and Ba Ba Ba all the time.
- Loves to dance, smile, and clap.  Also loves laughing at his silly sister.  I'd like to say it's me, but I think she is his favorite person.  When she's not around I can tell he gets bored with me. ;)

March catch up

I didn't take too many pictures in March because we spent most of the month resting at home.  It seemed like one or more of us were sick for almost the whole month!  And on the days we were healthy, it was too cold to go anywhere.

We did have a nice visit from Grandma, Papa, and Uncle Matt around St. Patrick's Day.  (all the pictures are on my brother's camera.)  Uncle Matt was in town for a conference, Grandma was on Spring Break, and Papa had a long weekend off from work.  It was great having several days together.

Lily rarely naps any more, and hardly ever falls asleep on the couch!  I think this must have been when she was starting to get sick.  And yes, she's wearing her Bear's jersey in March because that's what she wanted to wear (no pressure from Dad or Mom).  Why wouldn't she wear it in the Fall?!?!

Story time with Kyle and Daddy

I love this picture for a few reasons.  Lily is bowing because she's playing Cinderella (see the glass slippers).  Kyle and Daddy look so cute in the background.

Lily's pictures are starting to make sense and look like real things.  I wrote the labels so we'd remember, but here's our family she drew.

One more with everyone together

She may love acting and drawing, but Lily has another side as well: future engineer :)
(specializes in castle creation...those are Cinderella legos)

Normally I don't let Lily in the crib with Kyle, but she was begging and I thought it'd be a cute picture, so I gave in.  I was right... they are cute - both with their bedtime friends.

Now you get to see two sides of Kyle.  #1 Happy boy with a train.

#2 Little brother playing with big sister's princess castle.  He loves opening and closing the doors.  He also enjoys eating the princesses (when Lily isn't looking)

Looking forward to a healthy April with warm weather.  We need to play outside!!!

Kyle is 9 months

I have good reason for being late this time.  Kyle was sick with croup on his 9 month birthday.  So his well check-up got postponed to this week.  On a side note... there was nothing to be done about his croup besides run the humidifier.  This was his first time getting it.  Lily has had it twice before.  I kind of feel like a pro at recognizing it and treating it.  We were so scared the first time Lily got it... and now it's no big deal :)

Back to Kyle.... he is 28.5" long and weighs 22 lb 10 oz.  He is quite a load to carry!  When he got his shot he didn't even feel it!  I guess that's one good thing about having "healthy" thighs.  He is also just an extremely happy baby, so maybe he didn't care.  The only thing that makes him cry is when he's hungry or when a toy gets taken away from him.  Otherwise he's all smiles and giggles and overall super-cute!

Besides his lingering cough, he is perfectly healthy.  Just a little bit LAZY.  Yep, that's his official diagnosis from the doctor.  She asked if he's crawling and I said no. Then she said, "but he's rolling, right?"  And I said no. :(  Then she got a really concerned look on her face.

She commented on how good his posture is and how well he sits.  Then she checked to see how he pulled up from laying down to standing.  Everything looked fine.  Then she turned to Kyle and said, "I think you're just LAZY!"  No need to see a specialist.  Just need to watch and wait and do lots more tummy time.

Kyle wears size 4 diapers and 12 month clothes.  His torso is long but legs and arms are short.  He sleeps 12 hours most of the time.  But on several occasions will wake up once to nurse.  His wake and sleep times vary all the time!  No two days are exactly the same.  For the most part there's a good morning nap and afternoon nap and bedtime is 6 pm to 6 am.  But last weekend he fall asleep at 4 pm for what I thought was his afternoon nap and he stayed asleep until 4 am!! I tried waking him at 7 to feed him but he was dead to the world.

He's picking up on a few signs.  He's been doing "SO BIG" for a while.  This month he learned "more" and "all done".  His "more" is the same as clapping and his "all done" is the same as "so big".  But I know the difference on what he means. :) He also knows the sign for "milk" but I use it for his water cup during meals.  I feel like the sign for "water" is too complicated.

He's really good at using a sippy cup and drinks a lot during meals.  He wants to feed himself most of the time, so we do mostly table food and only a few purees.  Since his sister never finishes her meals, he gets to try her leftovers.  He just discovered mac n cheese and spaghetti and meatballs.  He's a good Italian and LOVES his pasta!!  This month he also tried and liked a bunch of beans and also hummus.  He still loves his scrambled eggs and can also devour pancakes.  He's tried a lot of our food and rarely turns anything down.  Except jarred meat... he hates jarred meat even when mixed with yummy veggies. But who can blame him!

Kyle FINALLY Moves

Up to this point, Kyle has barely moved by himself.  On his 9 month birthday he finally figured out how to put weight on his knees and move.  It's backwards instead of forwards... and not full crawling... but still movement, so we'll take it!

There were a couple of times that morning when I put down and he was in a different spot the next time I looked.  So then I tried desperately to watch him and get it on video!  The first video is a failed attempt.  Lily literally runs circles around him and he can't get her!

After a few more fails, I finally got it!  If you don't want to watch the whole thing, just skip to the 2 minute mark and you'll see some action.
