I have good reason for being late this time. Kyle was sick with croup on his 9 month birthday. So his well check-up got postponed to this week. On a side note... there was nothing to be done about his croup besides run the humidifier. This was his first time getting it. Lily has had it twice before. I kind of feel like a pro at recognizing it and treating it. We were so scared the first time Lily got it... and now it's no big deal :)
Back to Kyle.... he is 28.5" long and weighs 22 lb 10 oz. He is quite a load to carry! When he got his shot he didn't even feel it! I guess that's one good thing about having "healthy" thighs. He is also just an extremely happy baby, so maybe he didn't care. The only thing that makes him cry is when he's hungry or when a toy gets taken away from him. Otherwise he's all smiles and giggles and overall super-cute!
Besides his lingering cough, he is perfectly healthy. Just a little bit LAZY. Yep, that's his official diagnosis from the doctor. She asked if he's crawling and I said no. Then she said, "but he's rolling, right?" And I said no. :( Then she got a really concerned look on her face.
She commented on how good his posture is and how well he sits. Then she checked to see how he pulled up from laying down to standing. Everything looked fine. Then she turned to Kyle and said, "I think you're just LAZY!" No need to see a specialist. Just need to watch and wait and do lots more tummy time.
Kyle wears size 4 diapers and 12 month clothes. His torso is long but legs and arms are short. He sleeps 12 hours most of the time. But on several occasions will wake up once to nurse. His wake and sleep times vary all the time! No two days are exactly the same. For the most part there's a good morning nap and afternoon nap and bedtime is 6 pm to 6 am. But last weekend he fall asleep at 4 pm for what I thought was his afternoon nap and he stayed asleep until 4 am!! I tried waking him at 7 to feed him but he was dead to the world.
He's picking up on a few signs. He's been doing "SO BIG" for a while. This month he learned "more" and "all done". His "more" is the same as clapping and his "all done" is the same as "so big". But I know the difference on what he means. :) He also knows the sign for "milk" but I use it for his water cup during meals. I feel like the sign for "water" is too complicated.
He's really good at using a sippy cup and drinks a lot during meals. He wants to feed himself most of the time, so we do mostly table food and only a few purees. Since his sister never finishes her meals, he gets to try her leftovers. He just discovered mac n cheese and spaghetti and meatballs. He's a good Italian and LOVES his pasta!! This month he also tried and liked a bunch of beans and also hummus. He still loves his scrambled eggs and can also devour pancakes. He's tried a lot of our food and rarely turns anything down. Except jarred meat... he hates jarred meat even when mixed with yummy veggies. But who can blame him!
