Lazy Sunday

"Oh, the sun feels so good!" Chips and Salsa make sure they pick the best spots in the house for nap time. :)
Everything went well with their annual check up. Salsa lost a few ounces and Chips gained what she lost. I think we need to start feeding them in separate spots so Chips doesn't eat Salsa's leftovers.
Baby Update: I'm starting to feel more of Baby Cincy's kicks. It's amazing! They feel like little muscle spasms in my belly. They are still pretty light, but they are strong enough that Matt can feel them too!!

Happy Friday!!

We haven't had our blog that long and we're already slacking on posts. Oops! Labor Day weekend was a little busy, but very nice. On Saturday my parents came up to visit and we all went over to Matt's parent's house for a BBQ. The ladies talked baby shower while the men played bean bags. It was great to share Baby Cincy's ultrasound photos with the Grandparents and start making plans for the Little One's arrival.

On Sunday my Mom and I did more baby planning while Matt and my Dad played Wii. (My Dad was a pro at the new Wii Resort Sports games!) We set up the family cradle that my parent's brought us. My Mom had it all ready with a new mattress and cute yellow duck bedding set. This cradle is either 85 or 90 years old and has been used by my Grandma, my Mom, my brother, and me! Many healthy babies have slept in the cradle, so we're hoping it brings good luck.

For lunch we drove out to Hackney's in Lake Zurich. Matt and I have been before, but my parents really wanted to try it. It was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" and they are known for their onion loaf, blue cheese burger, and inside-out burger. Of course we sampled them all and determined that the blue cheese burger on rye bread is the winner. The restaurant was 10 minutes from my office in Long Grove so I showed my parents where I work. Then it was time to say goodbye because my Dad had to work on Monday.

Sunday night we met Rich, Jane, Jeff, and Kelly for dinner and drinks. Jeff has been dating Kelly for over 6 months and I FINALLY got to meet her! It was great catching up and relaxing knowing that we didn't have work the next day.

Though we didn't have to go to the office on Monday, Matt and I certainly worked hard. The room that is going to be the nursery was our "office/clutter room". We moved a bunch of furniture and sorted through a lot of junk in order to clear the room. Now we have an empty space that we get to start filling!! We spent the rest of the day searching the internet for nursery decoration ideas and baby names. We didn't make any decisions yet, but we're hoping to figure the nursery out soon. We're going to take our time with baby names and probably won't make our final decision until we meet her.

Ultrasound Pictures

Her first picture!

Here's a leg. I think this is one of the coolest!

A foot

A hand

Her face. The dark circles are her eyes, the white blotch is her nose.

It's a GIRL!!!!

I'm 21 weeks and just had my ultrasound appointment. The doctor said everything is normal and the baby looks healthy so far. We saw the brain, heart, kidneys, bladder, hands, feet... everything from head to toe. We also got a really good look between the legs and found out it's a girl!!! (We had him check a couple times, just to make sure.) We think we even saw her sucking her thumb! She was moving around a lot during the exam. I'm starting to feel her movements in my belly. It's still a "fluttering" feeling and there aren't any strong kicks or punches yet. I'm sure that will come soon! It's so exciting to finally know the gender. Now we get to start planning and shopping!!!

Sooo Anxious

Finally get to find out the sex of the baby today!!!!!
Appointment @ 3:30!!!!!

Friends & Animals

Last Saturday I went to Indianapolis for Kelsey's baby shower. Kelsey is my first girl friend from high school to have a baby. We are all very excited for her. She's expecting a little girl in October. She had lots of people at her shower (even a few babies) and got tons of cute gifts. This was the first baby shower I've been to in about 10 years. It was good to "feel it out" before I have my own. Plus I was able to see her house for the first time and she had her nursery all set up. Everything is so cute! After the shower we went over to Beth's new house, which I also got to see for the first time. Beth and Kelsey live in neighborhoods across the street from each other! Beth also has a gorgeous home and so many decorations up already.

Now for the animals...
While in Indy I stopped by LeAnn's for dinner. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the two of us, but I did get her two cute babies: Lincoln (the black one) & Reagan (the tan one). They were both VERY excited to have a new visitor in the house. The greating was a little different than the one Chips and Salsa usually give me. They are both super sweet dogs!

After hanging out with the dogs I went to West Lafayette to cat-sit my parent's cats: Spice (the tan one) & Pepper (the black one). Spice & Pepper didn't sit still for me to get very good pictures of them. They were both very happy to be pet and fed. They were even brave enough to sleep in bed with me! (I think they were just happy to have a human in the house.)
My parents were in Pittsburgh visiting my brother, Matt. His company had their BIG fundraising event called "Hot House" on Saturday night. I hear that all the hard work paid off and the event was a big success. Way to go Matt!!
